With the launch of the Taigo, a totally new model arrives in Volkswagen showrooms – with a sloping roof like a coupé and a slightly elevated seating position. However, its modern character is not only reflected in the elegant shape of its body, but also in the many intelligent comfort, operating and assist systems. On request, the small car can be upgraded with a black roof, large tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof, and technological features like IQ.DRIVE Travel Assist for partly automated driving. The entry price for the all-new Taigo (with 1.0 TSI engine, 70 kW/95 PS, 5-speed) is € 19,350.

 

It joins the ranks of Volkswagen’s small car segment alongside the Polo and T-Cross. And what a car it is! The innovative body shape, with perfect proportions and up to 18-inch wheels, give it an elegant and dynamic look. Another highlight of the exterior is the continuous light strip and LED lights at the rear. The IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights, including a light strip in the radiator grille, can also be ordered (as standard from equipment line Style and above) for greater convenience, an even sharper signature at the front, and increased safety.

The central element in the interior is the standard Digital Cockpit, as well as the new generation of infotainment system (MIB). Arranged horizontally on a raised sightline, this digital unit boasts a 20-cm, high-resolution colour display that gives you an overview of all essential information. The optional Digital Cockpit Pro also offers many individual configuration options.

Three engines and four equipment lines

The Taigo, which is only available as front-wheel drive, is offered in three performance levels (as 1.0 TSI with a choice of 70 kW/95 PS or 81 kW/110 PS, and as 1.5 TSI with 110 kW/150 PS) and the four equipment lines Taigo, Life, Style and R-Line. The entry level Taigo (with 1.0 TSI engine, 70 kW/95 PS and a manual 5-speed transmission) boasts a large range of standard features. For example, the SUV coupé comes with a multifunctional steering wheel, air conditioning, the Autonomous Emergency Braking Front Assist, Lane Assist, and LED headlights as standard.

The Life equipment line also comes with the standard Park Distance Control and App Connect. The latter makes it possible to comfortably operate selected apps and content directly via the display in the car. On the engine side, the more powerful 1.0-litre TSI with an output of 81 kW (110 PS) is available as an option.

The Style equipment line is expressive and has even more possibilities: for example, the extensive range of standard equipment includes App Connect, including App Connect Wireless for Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. IQ.LIGHT – LED matrix headlights with LED daytime driving light also come as standard. The Taigo Style is also available with the 1.5-litre TSI engine generating 110 kW (150 PS), and a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox (DSG) as an option.

The R-Line equipment line is the right choice for anyone who prefers a sporty overall impression. It is defined by a lower front bumper in the R-Line design, a rear diffusor, sporty contrasting elements in high-gloss black, and larger wheels (up to 18-inch). In the interior, a black roof liner (typical “R”) is a standard feature. The R-Line equipment line – like the Taigo Style – also comes with the IQ.LIGHT – LED matrix headlights (including light strip at the front), the Ready 2 Discover infotainment system, and heated front seats.

The Taigo also boasts many opportunities to customise the car: the eight colours, including two uni tones and five metallic paints, as well as the pearl-effect Deep Black, can be combined with a contrasting Deep Black roof upon request. Tinted side windows, a dark rear window and black exterior mirror caps are included in the Roof Pack.

From the Life equipment line, it is possible to order a panoramic tilting and sliding sunroof, which extends across almost the entire interior. Depending on the equipment line, additional design packages are available at an extra charge, as is a towing bracket, ensuring the car is fit for everyday use.

Low insurance rating – low maintenance costs

One big factor when deciding which car to purchase are the low maintenance costs of the new Taigo: its insurance ratings are favourable (liability class: 12, fully comprehensive: 18, partially comprehensive: 17), and the car tax of € 46 per year is very low.

Pre-sales of Volkswagen’s first ever e-SUV coupé with long distance suitability have now got underway. The top-of-the-range electric model of the ID. family based on the modular electric drive matrix (MEB) is available in Germany from an entry-level price of 46,515 euros. In addition to its expressive design, the ID.5 features an exclusive interior complete with all the latest Infotainment and assist systems. The ID.5 offers full connectivity and can be updated over-the-air.

 

“Our elegant e-SUV coupé already gives customers the new ID.Software 3.0. In concrete terms, this means that improved charging capacity and voice control ensure a high level of user comfort,” says Klaus Zellmer, Member of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand with responsibility for Sales, Marketing and After Sales. “Latest-generation assist systems demonstrate Volkswagen’s software expertise:here we’re taking the next step towards automated driving as part of the ACCELERATE strategy.”

Over-the-air updates ensure the ID.5 always stays up-to-date. The comprehensive driver assist systems with new functions are included in the optionally available Travel Assist with swarm data. This enhances driving comfort as a result of the interaction between ACC and Lane Assist, combined with navigation data and data from the cloud transmitted by other vehicles (swarm data). Local hazard alert with Car2X technology is on board as standard. Parking is now even easier, too, thanks to Park Assist Plus with memory function (optional).

Available at the pre-sales launch: the ID.5 Pro and the ID.5 Pro Performance with 128 kW (174 PS) and 150 kW (204 PS) respectively, along with the all-wheel drive ID.5 GTX with 220 kW (299 PS).

All ID.5 motor options use a large, long-distance-capable battery that can store 77 kWh of energy (net). Its central location under the passenger compartment ensures a low centre of gravity and balanced distribution of the axle load. This enables the ID.5 Pro and ID.5 Pro Performance to achieve a range of up to 520 km (WLTP) with a maximum charging power of up to 135 kW. The all-wheel drive ID.5 GTX has a range of up to 490 km (WLTP). Thanks to the peak charging power of up to 150 kW, the top model charges energy for the 100 kilometres in just 6 minutes at fast charging stations.

 

The novel body style and space concept highlight the innovative power of Volkswagen and its ID. family. Despite its coupé-type shape, the ID.5 has just 12 mm less headroom in the back than the Volkswagen ID.4. The long 2,766 mm wheelbase allows interior spatial conditions comparable to those of SUVs in higher vehicle classes. The luggage compartment volume is 549 litres, while the vehicle’s materials and workmanship are of premium quality.

“The ID.5 offers the very best combination of premium standards with elegance and sustainability,” says Klaus Zellmer. “Our first all-electric SUV coupé offers local carbon-neutral mobility and sporty performance for a demanding clientele. The streamlined range structure makes it easy to order the ID.5. Customers first decide which engine and look they want ; this is then followed by a clearly organised selection of packages. They can choose between optional design, Infotainment, assist, comfort and sport packages, all of which are available in both basic and “plus” variants.

With We Charge Volkswagen provides the perfect charging solution everywhere and around the clock. The ID.5 models can be charged with a power of up to 11 kW at an alternating current charging station or wall box. On the road, ID.5 models with We Charge benefit from the fastest-growing charging ecosystem which already comprises some 250,000 charging points throughout Europe. With the increased maximum DC charging capacity of up to 135 kW, the battery is able to store energy for the next 390 km in the ID.5, or 320 km in the ID.5 GTX (WLTP), in around 30 minutes at fast charging stations.

The ID.5 is a new model in the ID. family in Europe following on from the best-selling ID.3 and the global car ID.4. With this addition, Volkswagen is speeding up its electric mobility campaign under the ACCELERATE strategy. By 2030 at least 70 per cent of Volkswagen’s unit sales in Europe are expected to come from all-electric vehicles. The CO2 emissions per vehicle are set to decrease by up to 40 percent by as soon as 2030. On its “way to ZERO”, the company is planning to become climate-neutral by 2050 at the latest.

The ID.5 and ID.5 GTX are manufactured at the Volkswagen plant in Zwickau and are carbon-neutral on handover to the customer. When charged using 100 per cent green energy, the vehicles are already virtually climate-neutral.

World premiere for the new T-Roc: With a fresh design, innovative assist systems and numerous digital services, Volkswagen is continuing the success story of its compact crossover model. A sharpened exterior defines the unmistakable appearance of the new T-Roc, T-Roc R and T-Roc Cabriolet. The interior was refined with high-quality materials, a redesigned Infotainment display and the Digital Cockpit as standard. Innovative technology from higher vehicle classes has now been integrated into the compact SUV model family – in the shape of IQ.Light, with LED matrix headlights, and the assist systems of IQ.Drive with Travel Assist, as well as predictive ACC cruise control. In this way, Volkswagen is making great strides towards becoming a software-oriented mobility provider as part of its ACCELERATE strategy.

 

The combination of a progressive look, sporty performance and rock-solid versatility have made the T-Roc a popular, best-selling car over the course of the last four years. Without a direct predecessor, it became a key pillar in Volkswagen’s product programme overnight. Since its market launch in 2017, more than one million units of the compact SUV have been sold. Since the end of 2019, the model range has included an extremely sporty T-Roc R. Since the spring of 2020, the T-Roc Cabriolet has united the strengths of an SUV with the option of driving with the top down.

 

Sophisticated interior, sharpened exterior design

With a foam-backed surface and distinctive seams, the new dash panel brings modern and top-quality design highlights to the interior of the new T-Roc. The Infotainment display is now designed like a tablet and positioned on the dash panel in a line of sight with the instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. Depending on the equipment, the Infotainment display measures either 8.0 inches or 9.2 inches. The compact SUV comes as standard with a digital instrument cluster which is optionally available at a size of up to 10.25-inches as the Digital Cockpit Pro. The multifunction steering wheel, which is also part of the standard package, has a new design that contributes to the vehicle’s intuitive control.

High-quality fabric door trim is now standard. In the Style and R-Line equipment lines, door trim and arm rests are made of leatherette and boast designer seams, just like the head restraints. Another feature of the Style equipment line are the centre panels of the comfort seats in ArtVelours. In conjunction with the R-Line, top-of-the-range sports seats for both driver and front passenger (previously only to be found in the T-Roc R), as well as Nappa leather upholstery, are available as an option.

The lines of the new T-Roc exterior have been sharpened, making its unmistakable crossover design all the more striking. LED headlights and darkened rear lights are included as standard. IQ LIGHT with LED matrix headlights and an illuminated radiator grille strip, as well as tail light clusters with a new graphic structure and dynamic turn signal are available on request. Five new colours of exterior paint and newly designed 17- and 19-inch alloy wheels provide customers with even more opportunities to customise their car.

New levels of digitalisation and connectivity

The new T-Roc comes with the advanced assist systems Front Assist and Lane Assist as standard. Moreover, the new IQ.DRIVE Travel Assist and Predictive Cruise Control enable assisted steering, braking and acceleration at speeds of up to 210 km/h. By integrating the signals from the front camera, as well as GPS and map data, the vehicle control system can incorporate local speed limit information, town boundary signs, junctions and roundabouts.

The new T-Roc features the third generation of the Modular Infotainment Toolkit (MIB3), This enables the use of a variety of online-based functions and services. We Connect Plus services can be used free of charge in Europe for one year as part of the standard package This means that natural online voice control and streaming services are available. Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ functions can also be integrated wirelessly into the control system via App-Connect Wireless, if desired.

Efficient TSI and TDI engines, 7-speed DSG and 4MOTION available as option

In the diverse drive portfolio of the new T-Roc there are three TSI and two TDI engines to choose from. Depending on the selected drive, a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG powers the front axle. The 1.0-litre TSI three-cylinder engine has a maximum output of 81 kW (110 PS). The four-cylinder drives generate 110 kW (150 PS) as a 1.5-litre TSI and 140 kW (190 PS) as a 2.0-litre TSI. The range is rounded off with two 2.0-litre TDI four-cylinder engines offering an output of 85 kW (115 PS) and 110 kW (150 PS) respectively. As an alternative to front-wheel drive, 4MOTION all-wheel drive in conjunction with the 110 kW (150 PS) diesel engine ensures superior power transmission. The 2.0-litre TSI with 140 kW (190 PS) is combined with 4MOTION as standard.

Available in a basic version and three further pre-configured equipment lines

The T-Roc can be adapted even more easily to individual tastes, thanks to the reorganisation of equipment lines. In addition to the basic T-Roc version, the compact SUV is available throughout Europe in the newly configured versions Life, Style and R-Line. The Style equipment line boast two-tone paintwork, additional chrome elements, background lighting and convenience seats in the interior. The R-Line exterior design and equipment is now based to an even greater extent on the top model T-Roc R. The unique character manifests itself in many ways such as in a striking, sporty bumper design and multifunction sports steering wheel with touch control. In addition, the new T-Roc in conjunction with the R-Line equipment line has a sports package including driving profile selection, progressive steering and sports running gear. Moreover, customers can opt for a Black Style design package in conjunction with the Style and R-Line equipment lines. Its exterior and interior black design elements create a subtly sporty look.

The new T-Roc R: versatile performance

With its 221 kW (300 PS) four-cylinder engine, the new T-Roc R is the most dynamic compact SUV of the model family. The standard sports running gear and 4MOTION all-wheel drive also contribute to this. Aside from the distinctive sound, the sporty performance is also visually accentuated in the interior and the R-specific exterior. The newly designed sports leather steering wheel features touch controls and the model-specific R button for direct access to driving profile selection.

The new T-Roc Cabriolet: Driving fun, freedom and a zest for life

The new version of the T-Roc Cabriolet signalises now more than ever driving fun, freedom and a zest for life. As an open-top crossover model, it unites the robustness of an SUV with the pleasures of a convertible. The new T-Roc Cabriolet features an electrically operated, three-layer, fabric soft top that can be opened in under nine seconds. The open-top four seater comes in the Style and R-Line equipment lines. Customers can choose from a 1.0-litre TSI engine with 81 kW (110 PS) and a 1.5-litre TSI with 110 kW (150 PS).

As soon as the end of this week, the new T-Roc and new T-Roc Cabriolet are available for order; the new T-Roc R is available from the beginning of the new year. In spring 2022, all models will then be available from dealers.The entry price for the new T-Roc with 1.0 TSI engine is 23,495 euros (incl. VAT); prices for the new T-Roc Cabriolet start at 31,850 euros (incl. VAT) in the Style equipment line with the 1.0 TSI engine.

The ACCELERATE strategy is systematically driving the advancement towards becoming a software-oriented mobility provider. Software is also key in the development of chassis and steering systems for the highly automated driving of the future. Volkswagen is currently developing the next generation of a regulated chassis, and a new steering system.

 

“The body’s pitching and rolling movements are significantly minimised and the driving dynamics optimised because the car reacts to steering movements more quickly and is more precise to drive,” said Karsten Schebsdat, Head of Vehicle Dynamics and Chassis Control System sat Volkswagen. “And this development is very important in terms of highly automated driving. This is how we ensure passengers are as comfortable as possible in all situations.”

In future, software will play an even greater role in defining the character of the car

The development of a new steering system is forging ahead as well. “Software will also be more important for steering in the future,” said Schebsdat. “It gives us many more opportunities to influence steering characteristics, which can be implemented on a model-specific basis for all platforms later on.” And the driver assistance systems such as Lane Assist and Travel Assist will also benefit from this steering system when the components enter series production.

The new Tiguan Allspace is now available from dealerships, offering all the most popular strong points of a spacious SUV, space for up to seven people, an updated design and new efficient engines. The long version of Volkswagen’s best-selling SUV model is also available with new technological features, such as IQ.DRIVE Travel Assist for semi-automated driving assistance, We Connect mobile online services and IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights. Customers can choose between five engines, front-wheel or all-wheel drive, and the three equipment packages Life, Elegance and R-Line. The entry price for the new Tiguan Allspace (1.5 l TSI, 110 kW / 150 PS, 6-speed manual gearbox) is 36,900 euros.

 

Since it was launched onto the market in 2017, the Tiguan Allspace has become an out-and-out success. The new variant, which is 22 centimetres longer than the standard Tiguan, has sold more than 1.7 million units around the world to date. The Tiguan Allspace has now also received the same updates as the shorter model variant – impressing with a sharper look, digital cockpit and comprehensive connectivity. The different powertrain options have an array of sustainable innovations. The new control and assist systems guarantee even more convenience, as the new Tiguan Allspace brings on board a wide range of online-based services and functions, thanks to the next-generation Infotainment system MIB3.

When it comes to its look, the illuminated radiator grille and dynamic turn signals are real highlights. Customers also have the option of ordering the interactive IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights, which offer added safety and comfort. The LED tail light clusters have also had a makeover. Additionally, there are two new exterior paintwork options and an extra 18-inch design for the range of alloy wheels.

Spacious vehicle interior with a digital update

The Tiguan Allspace’s interior has enough space for an optional third row of seats. With this option, the spacious five-seater vehicle transforms into an SUV with space for up to seven people. To give the interior a modern feel, the vehicle is equipped with the Digital Cockpit Pro as standard, an updated multifunction steering wheel, and an Infotainment system with a large colour display measuring up to 9.2 inches. The optional Air Care Climatronic 3-zone automatic climate control system is controlled from a new module with touch panels in the centre console. Add to that the third generation of the modular infotainment matrix (MIB3), which enables customers to enjoy advanced We Connect mobile online services. These include, for example, an Online Voice Control feature, access to streaming services, cloud-based personalisation, and wireless use of apps via App-Connect Wireless for Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. The digital innovations in the new Tiguan Allspace enhance the driving experience while reflecting Volkswagen’s new ACCELERATE strategy – and the company’s transformation into a software-oriented mobility provider.

Wide range of drive systems, improved emissions

Five efficient and powerful drive systems are available for the new Tiguan Allspace: The 2.0-litre TDI drive systems with 110 kW (150 PS) and 147 kW (200 PS) improve their emissions thanks to a dual SCR catalytic converter with twin AdBlue® dosing. The 1.5-litre TSI engine with 110 kW (150 PS), which comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard or an optional 7-speed DSG dual clutch gearbox, is equipped with Active Cylinder Management (ACT). Two further 2.0-litre TSI engines are also available, delivering 140 kW (190 PS) and 180 kW (245 PS). Their power is transferred to the road thanks to the standard 7-speed DSG dual clutch gearbox and 4MOTION all-wheel drive. All engine options comply with the strict Euro 6d-ISC-FCM emission standard. In conjunction with 4MOTION, the permissible maximum trailer weight is 2.5 tonnes.

 

Advanced assist systems

The new Tiguan Allspace’s technological update also includes new, very advanced assist systems. The standard equipment package offers the enhanced Front Assist Autonomous Emergency Braking function, Lane Assist lane departure warning system, Driver Alert System, and Active Cruise Control (ACC), which also includes the Stop & Go function when combined with the 7-speed DSG dual clutch gearbox. The optional IQ.DRIVE Travel Assist function facilitates assisted steering, braking and acceleration at speeds up to 210 km/h. Predictive cruise control (Predictive ACC) is also available as an option.

New structure for specification packages

In Germany, the new Tiguan Allspace is available with three specification packages: Life, Elegance and R-Line. The standard equipment in the Life package includes silver exterior mirror housing, silver anodised roof railing, 18-inch alloy wheels, comfort seats, two USB ports and an electric boot lid. The Elegance specification package for an especially stylish new Tiguan Allspace includes chrome features, 19-inch alloy wheels, ambient lighting with 30 different colours, IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights, a heated steering wheel, and the Easy Open & Close function for the boot lid. The R-Line package comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, a special design for the front apron, sill extensions, a rear spoiler, a leather multifunction sports steering wheel and sports seats for extra dynamic flair.
